Prime University
Prime University (Bengali: প্রাইম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) or PU is a private university of the country located in Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The university was established according to the law of Private University Act 1992.[1] It is affiliated by the University Grants Commission Bangladesh. A group of educationists and philanthropists has established this institute in the year 2002. PU is the first venture of the Prime Foundation.[2] At present the university has ten undergraduate and seven graduate programs offered by the five faculties with the strict controls of its education quality. Prime University beliefs in both theoretical and practice-oriented along with the interactive process of the education system. Moreover, there is a wide scope of research for the faculties and as a result, it is a place of cultivation of knowledge, creation of knowledge and exchange of knowledge.[3] The university supports its students through its commitment to excellence and demonstrates it through the quality academic services. The university operates as a non-profit institution and offers academically rigorous and practical instruction in different disciplines, the overall objective being to cater to the growing demand for human resources development in compliance with upcoming digital Bangladesh as well as in the context of the present-day world. The Courses and Curriculum are so designed to enable a student to enter the world of work and pursue higher academic and professional goals with a sound academic foundation. The academic goal of the university is not just to make the students pass the examination but to equip them with the means to become productive members of the community and continue the practice of lifelong learning.

Campus

Prime University is located at the heart of Dhaka city, 114/116 Mazar Road, Mirpur-1, Dhaka-1216, Bangladesh. It is a permanent campus with a huge building having an area of 150,000 sq ft. (14,000 sq m.) is used for the accommodation of the university. Among others, the university has a wide range of facilities such as a spacious campus, air-conditioned rooms, separate room for the teachers, rich library, common room for the students, cafeteria, prayer room, seminar room, 75 Mbit/s dedicated Internet facilities, Wi-Fi zone, student guidance and counselling services, international student affairs desk, reasonable tuition and other fees etc. It takes about 10 minutes on foot to reach the campus from Mirpur Technical bus stand (closest bus terminal). Also, it takes about 5 minutes to reach the campus from Shah Ali Mazar on foot (walking distance). The medium of instruction in the university is English, but the students of LL.B (Preliminary and Final) and B.Ed. may study in Bangla version also. All students are expected to attend the classes regularly. The university believes that regular attendance is essential for effective learning. A student is required to attend at least 75% of all the classes held in every course in order to sit for the final examination.

Innovation Hub
A platform consisting of university teachers, students, researchers, which have been formed with the overall supervision of Innovation Lab to expand the technology research at the university level. Innovation is the introduction and creation of something new, in the form of an idea, skill, product, service or process, that helps improve an organization or society. Innovation to achieve SDG hopes to introduce a wider view of innovation as new methods of creating value and focusing on research that studies innovative processes, organizational practices, systems, supply chain design, and other related mechanisms related to operations in practice.[5]
Library
The Prime University Library[6] has different resources like books on different subjects, reports and bound journals, CD ROMs and databases, Audio & Video cassettes etc. Presently, more than 40,000 books are covering Liberal Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce, Particularly Business, Management, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Computer Science and Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, History and Culture, Sociology as well as different language courses like English, Arabic, Chinese, Korean etc. The Prime University Library Subscribes International Journal like The Economist, Riders Digest, Indian Times etc. The CD ROMs contain contents of different books, matters relating to Environments, Historical Incidences, Culture, Culinary Arts etc. It has also provided a Digital Library that is a focused collection of digital objects that can include text, visual material, audio material, video material, stored as electronic media formats (as opposed to print, microform, or other media), along with means for organizing, storing, and retrieving the files and media contained in the library collection.

Research center
PU has a research center named Center for Research, Human Resource Development & Publications (CRHP).[7]
Journals and publications
Prime University Journal[8] is an interdisciplinary journal used to publish in January and July of each calendar year and is registered with National Serials Data Program, Library of Congress (ISSN 1995-5332). The journal contains research-based articles on social science, law, education, business, arts, science and technology. The first journal[9] was published in July 2007 (volume I) by CRHP. Also it publish news letter at same calendar year.

Convocation

Prime University held its first convocation[10] after 6 years of its establishment on 14 October 2008 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center. Almost 3,200 students have been achieved their graduation degrees from that ceremony. The second one has been held on 24 April 2016 at the same place. This time almost 6,000 students from different faculties have been achieved their degrees. The then honourable education minister Mr Nurul Islam Nahid, Member of Parliament has participated as chief guest on that occasion.
