Publication history

The Quiet Council made its debut in House of X #6 (October, 2019), created by writer-editor Jonathan Hickman and artist/co-plotter Pepe Larraz.

Fictional team biography

The Council's inaugural meeting as a governing body was to draft a set of initial governing rules for Krakoa and determine the fate of mutant criminal Sabretooth. After much discussion, often revolving around the complication of criminal mutants, the Council decided upon three basic laws for the fledgling nation: 1) Make more mutants; 2) Murder no man; 3) Respect the sacred land of Krakoa.[1][2]

The Council voted to exile Sabretooth to the unseen depths of the Krakoa that would leave him in a stasis-like condition because he could not be executed as his death would violate their new laws, and could not be released back into the outside world because mutants no longer fell under jurisdiction of humanity.[1][2]

After the end of the meeting, the Council joined the celebrations taking place upon island for the recognition of Krakoa as a sovereign nation under the United Nations.[1]

Kitty Pryde accepted the role of the Red Queen of the Hellfire Trading Company and was assigned initially undetermined seat in the Quiet Council of Krakoa.[3][4]

The Council also led the successful reformation of X-Factor, Hellions, X-Force, S.W.O.R.D.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]

Following Saturnyne's Tournaments of Swords, Apocalypse left the Council after deciding to exchange places with the island of Arrako in Otherworld and be with his family. Marvel Girl also resigned from the Council to co-lead the X-Men into Otherworld to save Cable, deciding that X-Men is needed to act heroically without the hindrance of the Quiet Council’s politics.[13][14][3][15]

The Council offered three of its members; Exodus, Magneto, Storm to aid mutants in plan to secure the next stage of mutant ascendance as by terraforming Mars and moving Arakko there.[16]
