Richard Lindsay
Richard David Lindsay II ("Rich") is a Democratic member of the West Virginia Senate,[1][2] representing the 8th district since January 9, 2019. Richard Lindsay II was born in Charleston West Virginia on January 29, 1977 to Richard David Lindsay and Pamela Elaine Tabor. Rich has three siblings: Matthew Charles Lindsay, Robert Tabor Lindsay and Catherine ("Kitty") Mary Lindsay. Rich's first jobs were as a bagboy at the Foodland on Smith Street in Charleston, and room service at the old Holiday Inn Heart of Charleston restaurant. He attended High School at Charleston Catholic, Musselman High School and Hargrave Military Academy where he graduated in 1996. He completed his undergraduate education at Wingate University in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in History. While at Wingate, he played four (4) years of Division II Lacrosse for the Bulldogs and was president of his fraternity, Delta Sigma Phi. After graduation from Wingate, Rich spent a year working for West Virginia's Helping, a non-profit organization wherein he assisted third grade teachers at Pratt Elementary and Sharon Dawes Elementary in preparation for standardized testing and mentored students. In 2001 he was accepted by the School of Political Management at George Washington University and moved to Washington D.C. While in D.C. and going to school, Rich worked at Conklin Scott - a fundraising group - and Bohemian Caverns, a jazz bar and restaurant. In 2002 he worked in El Dorado Arkansas on a coordinated campaign to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. Following the 2002 campaign, he landed a job on Capitol Hill working for the Honorable John "Jay" D. Rockefeller IV, U.S. Senator of West Virginia - Democrat. While working for the Senator, Rich moved up through the ranks from staff assistant to clerk to legislative correspondent writing on issues that included education, agriculture and energy. He graduated with a Masters in Political Management from George Washington University in 2003. In 2005, Rich was accepted to attend the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy Virginia. During his summers in law school, Rich waited tables at Tidewater Grill in Charleston. He graduated in 2008 with a J.D., but months before his graduation he married the love of his life, Allison Cook. In October 2008, Rich was admitted to the West Virginia Bar and shortly thereafter began his legal career working with his family at Tabor Lindsay & Associates where he remains to this day. Rich and Allison live on the East End of Charleston raising two boys, Richie and Patrick.
