Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani (transl. Love story of Rocky and Rani) is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language film directed by Karan Johar and produced by Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios.[1] The film stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt while Preity Zinta, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi play supporting roles.[2][3] It is scheduled for theatrically release on 10 February 2023.[4]

Development

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani was officially announced on 6 July 2021 on lead actor Ranveer Singh's birthday, and marks the return of producer Karan Johar to direction after 5 years; his last directorial was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016).[6]

Casting

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt were selected to star as the titular protagonists Rocky and Rani, working together for the second time post Gully Boy (2019).[7] Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi were signed for supporting roles.

Filming

Principal photography commenced on 20 August 2021 in Mumbai, after which a song featuring Singh and Bhatt was filmed in Moscow, Russia in September 2021.[8] In October 2021, the second schedule of the film begun in Delhi.[9]
