Fort Maginot de Sainte Agnes is now a museum and was built as part of the Maginot Line in 1932. It was built to defend the area against Italian and German invasion. However, it was never used since the invaders went around it. Tourist can enter the fort which could house between 300 to 400 soldiers for up to three months. Tour schedules are irregular so make sure to confirm before visiting.[3]
The narrow road to the village provides views of Roquebrune Cap Martin, Menton and on to Italy. Visitors can get to Menton by train and take the bus (#10) from the Gare Routiere station to Sainte-Agnes. It is also possible to drive for 25 minutes along the scenic road. This town sits overlooking the city of Menton and the Mediterranean.
