South Portobello

South Portobello is a suburb of Edinburgh in eastern central Scotland. It lies three miles (5 km) to the east of the city centre, between the suburbs of Duddingston and Joppa. It is officially a residential suburb of Edinburgh.

South Portobello, "SoPo", is home to a burgeoning creative community and a growing residential population. A number of creative initiatives and services have joined the area[1][2] offering studio space, community events and a number of health and wellbeing services.

The primary school St. John’s, South Portobello,[4] welcomes children of all denominations and beliefs.

The Portobello High School is one of the largest state schools in Edinburgh and Scotland, with over 1400 pupils[5]
