Tambaram Municipal Corporation

Tambaram City Municipal Corporation is the civic body administering Tambaram and the other southern suburbs of Chennai in Tamil Nadu, India. It is located in Chengalpattu district. Formerly the Tambaram municipality, the corporation was announced on 24 August 2021, and established on 3 November 2021,[3][4] by annexing various neighbouring local bodies south of Chennai in Chengalpattu district, such as the municipalities of Pallavaram, Pammal, Sembakkam and Anakaputhur, and town and census town panchayats of Thiruneermalai, Madambakkam, Chitlapakkam, Perungalathur, and Peerkankaranai, with Tambaram.[5] It is one of the three municipal corporations within the Chennai Metropolitan Area, the other two being the Greater Chennai Corporation and Avadi Corporation.[6][7]

Zones

Tambaram Corporation becomes 20th municipal corporation[8][9] for state of Tamilnadu and will have 4 zones, namely, Tambaram, Pallavaram, Pammal, and Sembakkam,[10] and estimated to have a total of 66 wards. Each of the zone will have 16 wards.[11] It will include the town panchayats of Peerkangaranai, Madambakkam, Chitlapakkam, Perungaluthur, and Tiruneermalai.

Tambaram Municipal Corporation earns 3000 million revenue approximately through local bodies connected to it.[12]
