Plot

Rajeev Bansal, a simpleton bank manager, lives in Jaipur with his loving and caring family; comprising of his wife Jhanvi, children Trishala and Rishabh, parents Pratap and Sushma, brother Rajan, sister-in-law Ruchi, and nephew Varun. He wants to befriend Rishabh who shares a close bond with Jhanvi, and shares everything with her but doesn't have the same rapport with him. Rishabh finds his father's efforts to befriend him slightly childish, but an adamant Rajeev eventually succeeds in befriending his son.

Once, Rajeev and Jhanvi are talking to each other on phone while Jhanvi is driving. Due to this, Jhanvi doesn't see a pedestrian in front of her car and immediately turns her car as she notices him. The pedestrian survives but Jhanvi accidentally hits another car. Both she and the man in the other car die in this tragic accident.

One year later

Rajeev has lost interest in his life due to Jhanvi's death. A new Punjabi senior manager named Daljeet Bagga joins his bank who had lost her husband, Ravinder, in a car accident. Shakti, Ravinder's greedy and wicked younger brother tries to snatch Daljeet's children, Balwinder "Barry" and Twinkle, from her in the court as they are the heirs to Ravinder's property. Rajeev learns that the other person who died in Jhanvi's accident was Daljeet's husband and, out of guilt, marries Daljeet in the court to protect her children. She wins the case but Rajeev's family opposes Rajeev and Daljeet's relationship, unaware that their marriage is only a fake contract. Rishabh and Barry remain at loggerheads. Shakti repeatedly attempts to separate Rajeev and Daljeet but fails. After much trouble caused by Shakti, Daljeet is accepted into the Bansal family by everyone except Rajeev's children. Barry initially hated Rajeev and cared about Shakti, but Shakti's true colours are soon revealed. Barry then starts liking Rajeev and later accepts him as his father, to Rishabh's dismay. Rishabh refuses to see Daljeet as his mother and hates her as he believes that she is trying to replace Jhanvi.

Daljeet's mother, Gurmeet, becomes the victim of pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis and wants to see Rajeev and Daljeet's marriage as her dying wish. Rajeev and Daljeet unhappily agree to get married traditionally only to honour Gurmeet's dying wish, unaware that she knows about the fake contact marriage and has pretended to be sick so it becomes a real one. Daljeet soon starts falling in love with Rajeev and eventually realises her love. However, as Rajeev didn't want to marry her but was doing so only for the sake of her mother, Daljeet fake elopes from the wedding and invents a story that she was promoted. Her heartfelt apology is not accepted by Rajeev's family, but she eventually manages to impress them and win their forgiveness.

Shakti arrives and reveals that Trishala, Rajeev's daughter, is in love with Laksh, whom she met after Jhanvi's death and fell in love with as he supported her. Rajeev opposes this relationship as Laksh is not of their caste. Trishala accepts Daljeet as her mother when she supports her relationship with Laksh and convinces Rajeev to give him a chance. But Laksh's mother Shobha, after being blackmailed by Shakti, rejects the marriage, using Rajeev's remarriage with Daljeet as an excuse. Daljeet holds herself responsible for Trishala's misery and tells Shobha the truth about the contractual basis of her marriage with Rajeev, which Shakti records. Shobha now reveals how she was blackmailed, and agrees to Trishala and Laksh's marriage. Meanwhile, Daljeet professes her love to Rajeev but he refuses to accept her feelings. Daljeet feels heartbroken but hides her pain. During Laksh and Trishala's engagement, Shakti arrives and plays the recording of Daljeet's confession regarding the fake marriage, which shocks everyone. However, they support Daljeet and stand by her side. When Shakti reopens Barry and Twinkle's custody case and shows the judge the recording of Daljeet's confession, Rajeev proves that Shakti does not care about Daljeet's children and is only after their property. Daljeet wins the case but her fake marriage with Rajeev is annulled. Rajeev unexpectedly falls in love with her but doesn't realise his feelings. Rishabh falls in bad company with a drug addict named Gargi and plans with her to humiliate Daljeet but they repent their actions when Daljeet discovers their plans but still defends them. Rishabh melts due to Daljeet's love for him and starts liking her, while Gargi becomes a good person.

Barry finds Jhanvi's insurance claim papers and shows them to Daljeet. The papers reveal that Jhanvi was responsible for Daljeet's husband Ravinder's death. Rajeev claims that this is the truth and explains everything in detail. He apologises to Daljeet for hiding this but she furiously states one cannot apologise for a crime, and tells him that he has broken her trust. Rajeev desperately tries to apologise to her and win back her trust but fails as she refuses to listen.

Mamta, Jhanvi's free-spirited younger sister, returns from the US to India, seeking a groom. As she arrives at the Bansal house, she is shocked when she hears what has happened so far. Daljeet doesn't get along well with Mamta at first but starts liking her after she does the impossible by ending the enmity between Rishabh and Barry and making them friends. On a matrimonial site, Mamta finds the profile of Shakti, who has been convinced by his mother to get married. They are both smitten with each other and start dating. Shakti starts loving Mamta obsessively and is infuriated upon learning that she is Rajeev's sister-in-law. When Mamta refuses to marry Shakti after learning the truth about him, he kidnaps her and tries to marry her forcibly but Rajeev saves her. Daljeet sets out to search for Shakti as he flees. She meets with an accident, which was arranged and planned by Shakti as an act of revenge. Rajeev, who was on phone with her, hears the collision and is reminded of Jhanvi's accident. Daljeet is rushed to the hospital where she battles for her life. Rajeev is in shock and struggles to process this heartbreaking turn of events. Daljeet's heart stops beating when Shakti sneaks into her ward and cuts off her oxygen supply. When Rajeev learns about this, he rushes to the hospital, hugs her and cries. Just then, Daljeet's heart starts beating again and she miraculously opens her eyes, which the doctor claims to be the power of love. After Daljeet makes a full recovery, the fear of losing her in the accident makes Rajeev realise that he is in love with her. Daljeet forgives Rajeev after realising that he truly repented his mistake and never meant to break her trust. As Rajeev tries to confess his love to Daljeet and propose to her, he is interrupted each time.

Shobha arrives and tells everyone to prepare for Laksh and Trishala's wedding. Trishala agrees half-heartedly as she earlier had an argument with Laksh. Meanwhile, a shocking truth about Mamta comes in front of Rajeev and Daljeet that she wants to become a mother through IVF with Rajeev as her donor as she wants her child to have all the qualities of Rajeev. Mamta tries to explain to Rajeev that IVF is a medical process which does not require physical relation or marriage, but he refuses to become her donor. Daljeet initially supports Rajeev but later, being a mother herself and loving Mamta like a sister, understands her feelings and tries to convince Rajeev to be Mamta's donor, which annoys him. Meanwhile, Laksh and Trishala get into a fight due to Laksh's possessive and distrustful nature. Their wedding is postponed and later called off as Trishala, wanting to pursue her dreams, breaks up with him. Rajeev, after getting a pep talk from his father Pratap, musters the courage and finally professes his love to Daljeet. An overjoyed Daljeet hugs Rajeev. After sharing some romantic moments, they announce in front of the family members that they are in love and will be getting married. Rishabh surprisingly takes this news well, as he now knows that Rajeev would never forget or replace Jhanvi, despite loving Daljeet. After Rajeev and Daljeet get engaged, Daljeet again tries to convince Rajeev to be Mamta's donor. Rajeev stills refuses, but later agrees due to his love for Daljeet and the thought that Jhanvi would have wanted him to do the same if she was alive. Rajeev, Daljeet and Mamta secretly go to the maternity clinic where Rajeev donates his samples but shockingly sees Shakti there. Shakti escapes from there but his thirst for revenge is reawakened. After the completion of the IVF procedure, the doctor tells Rajeev, Daljeet and Mamta that it would take a few weeks to find out whether Mamta is pregnant or not.

Rishabh is framed for trying to get his college section changed through bribery, by his principal, who despises all single mothers including Daljeet. When Daljeet tells Rishabh that she trusts him and knows that he is not at fault, he hugs her and finally accepts her as his mother. Rishabh is then proved innocent and his possible rustication is cancelled with the help of Gargi, who took admission in the same college and is now Rishabh's girlfriend.

Rajeev and Daljeet rejoice when they learn that Mamta is pregnant. Rajeev's love for Daljeet increases due to her selflessness of her being willing to share Rajeev with Mamta by convincing him to be the donor i.e. father of her child for Mamta's happiness. Meanwhile, Mamta unrequitedly falls for Rajeev. Shakti learns of Mamta's pregnancy and has a change of heart upon realising that he gained nothing from his selfish deeds but lost Mamta. He secretly meets Daljeet and reveals to her that he has changed but she doesn't believe him. Meanwhile, Mamta's love for Rajeev wins over her consciousness as she plots to expel Daljeet from Rajeev's life. After vain attempts, she reveals her pregnancy to the family members. When they learn that Rajeev is the father, Pratap fears being insulted by the narrow-minded society and thus forces Rajeev to marry Mamta instead of Daljeet, which pleases Mamta. However, Daljeet learns from Shakti that he is the donor and father of Mamta's child as he had switched Rajeev's donor samples with his own in the maternity clinic. Mamta drugs Daljeet and hides her in the room to stop her from exposing the truth before the upcoming wedding. Rajeev is saddened by Daljeet's absence and tearfully agrees to proceed with the wedding. Unexpectedly, Mamta is trapped within a fire but is saved by Rajeev and Daljeet. A guilt-ridden Mamta realises her mistake and reveals to everyone herself that the child she is carrying is Shakti's, while Shakti also arrives there and confirms the same. Mamta tells everyone that Rajeev and Daljeet are made for each other and deserve to be together. Pratap realises his mistake, and promises to get Rajeev and Daljeet married in a grand ceremony. Rajeev and Daljeet then forgive Mamta. Shakti proposes Mamta to marry him but she refuses as she does not love him and wishes to raise her child herself as a single mother, regardless of him being her child's donor instead of Rajeev. Mamta happily returns to the US with her unborn child in her womb. A furious Shakti lets go of his newly found goodness and becomes a villain again. He angrily leaves and vows to retaliate against Rajeev and Daljeet.

Rajeev and Daljeet get married in a grand ceremony and begin a new phase of life together. Meanwhile, Rishabh and Gargi face challenges in their relationship. Gargi's secret comes out that the principal of her, Rishabh and Barry's college is her father. Her mother Kunti had divorced the principal as he controlled and stopped her from pursuing her dreams, which led to the principal despising single mothers. Gargi apologises to Rishabh for hiding this but he forgives her reluctantly. Rishabh, being a possessive boyfriend, doubts Gargi and Barry's friendship, which is actually platonic. Barry immensly loves Rishabh and doesn't want to upset him, and thus tries to avoid Gargi but accidentally gets locked in a room with her, which Rishabh learns about and again misinterprets. In a dangerous fight with him, Rishabh accidentally pushes Barry from the terrace, causing him to get seriously injured upon which everyone rushes him to the hospital, unaware that Rishabh is responsible for Barry's condition. Barry's accident brings Rishabh and Gargi closer. Their misunderstandings get cleared and they reconcile. Rishabh hates himself for not trusting Barry and cries out of guilt due to Barry's critical condition.
