The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM) in Dubai is the first and only home-grown United Arab Emirates hospitality university. Part of the Jumeirah Hotels and Resort Group with iconic hotels like the Burj Al Arab, it offers global hospitality business education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

History

The Emirates Academy was established in 2001 as the first and only home-grown UAE Hospitality Higher Education Institute. It provides unique employability opportunities to graduates in the Middle-East and globally. EAHM works closely with the Jumeirah Hotel Group, and other international hospitality and leisure companies. The Emirates Academy is a leading organiser of Hospitality and Tourism conferences and seminars for the academic and professional community (EuroChrie academic conferences in 2008 and 2014, THE-ICE in 2012[1]) as well as skills-based Nestlé cooking events. The EAHM works in close collaboration with World Expo 2020 organised in Dubai.

Programmes

The Emirates Academy offers degrees on both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Undergraduate programmes


  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in International Hospitality Management[2]

The first two years of the Bachelor programme share the same courses, with the third year varying depending on the chosen specialisation. Students work on group projects together with hospitality and leisure industry partners.

Postgraduate programmes

  • Master of Business Administration in International Hospitality Management (MBA)

Continuous Professional Development

The Professional Training & Development department[3] offers Certifications for hospitality industry professionals. Most Certification sequences are composed of 1 to 5 full-day courses. Certifications may be earned in Financial Management; Food, Beverage, and Restaurant Management; Customer Service; Marketing; Operations Management, Project Management; or Human Resources. Several courses are in partnership with certifying entities such as the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute[4] or WSET Global [5] Industry professionals are therefore able to pursue continuing education and obtain internationally recognised certifications.

Accreditations and Memberships

All programmes of study are accredited by the UAE Federal Government Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (Commission for Academic Accreditation), and THE-ICE (International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education) in Australia. EAHM is also affiliated to AACSB, the Council of International Schools (CIS), and the Institute of Hospitality in the United Kingdom.

Awards

The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management was awarded the Dubai Quality Appreciation Program Award.[6] BID International Star for Leadership in Quality The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management was named a winner of the BID 2013 International Star for Leadership in Quality Award[7] in the Gold category in Paris; a trophy presented to companies and organizations from around the world that best adhere to excellence and innovation. Taste New Zealand Chef Competition A student at the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management won first place in the Taste New Zealand Chef Competition[8] which named her ‘Champion Chef’. Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge The Director of Culinary Arts, Chef Michael Kitts and Mr Haresh Mohinani won The Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge,[9] after winning the gold medal in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
