- January 27 – President Clinton delivers his final State of the Union Address before a joint session of Congress.[1]
- January 29 – President Clinton delivers remarks to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.[2]
September
September 26 - President Clinton delivers remarks in Georgetown University law school. Clinton talks about the role of government, the spreading of democracy, voting irregularities in Serbia, trade with China, and the inter connectivity of different countries. [3]
November
- November 7 – The 2000 United States presidential election takes place. However, a projected winner of the election is still yet to be declared on election night.
- November 7 – The Republican Party retains their majority in the United States House of Representatives and United States Senate while the Democratic Party briefly controlling the Senate.

- December 13 – The Republican Party presidential nominee George W. Bush becomes president-elect following the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Bush v. Gore.
