William Daley (ceramist)

William P. Daley (born 1925) is an American ceramist and professor, known for large scale, contemporary, unglazed stoneware.[1]

Biography

William Daley born in 1925 in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.[2] He attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1950, and Teachers College, Columbia University and graduated with a degree in 1952.[3] He initially taught at state schools in Iowa and New York.[3] Daley taught ceramics from 1957 until 1990 at University of the Arts, Philadelphia.[2][4]

He received a gold medal in 2003 from the American Craft Council.[2]

Daley’s work is in various public collection including at the Metropolitan Museum of Art,[5] Museum of Art and Design,[3] Museum of Fine Arts, Houston,[3] Philadelphia Museum of Art,[6] among others.
