¡De Cabeza! (American programming block)

¡De Cabeza! (English: "On Your Head!") is an former American children's programming block that airs on the Spanish language television network Univision, which debuted on September 16, 2000 to September 8, 2001. The two-hour block – which airs Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time and Pacific Time – features animated series aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 14.

Programs featured on the block consist almost entirely of Spanish-dubbed versions of series that were originally produced and broadcast in English, and are designed to meet federally mandated educational programming guidelines defined by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) via the Children's Television Act.

The following week, ¡De Cabeza! was replaced by the original Planeta U block on September 15, 2001. However, following in that year of 2002, the former animated series (including Bruno the Kid and The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat, as well as some Japanese anime are Tenchi Universe, Lost Universe and Red Baron) returning to the Univision's sister-network, Telefutura Network for the first time in nearly last year introduced the children's block, Toonturama.

History

In September 16, 2000, Univision launched a Saturday morning block as ¡De Cabeza! ("On Your Head!"), along with joint venture company including A.D. Vision, Funimation, Tokyo Movie Shinsha, Film Roman and Televisión Española. Programs seen during this time with Japanese anime shows included Tenchi Muyo! (as well as Tenchi Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo), Lost Universe and Red Baron. The Film Roman-produced shows aired on the network such as Bruno the Kid and The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat, as well as Mimi & Mr. Bobo.

However, the block were discontinued in September 8, 2001, the following week will be launched as the original, Planeta U debuted on September 15, 2001. Mimi & Mr. Bobo carried over to the block along with Plaza Sésamo and Juanito Jones aired from the network scheduling lineup.

Transition to Toonturama

On January 15, 2002, one day after the network launched, UniMás (then known as Telefutura), the program produced shows including Tenchi Universe, Lost Universe and Red Baron are moving to Univision's sister-network in the network block, Toonturama, along with the two Film Roman-produced animation shows such as Bruno the Kid and The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat after a one-year run on Univision.
