Biography

Born in the United Kingdom, Barnett began playing tennis at the age of seven, she joined the ITF Circuit at the age of 16/17.[1] She joined Team Bath Tennis High-International Performance Academy as a 16-year-old, through the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sport and Exercise (AASE) programme and has since returned postgraduate.[2] It is believed that Alicia took her studies abroad and graduated at Northwestern University in Illinois, in 2017.[1]

Throughout her tennis career, Barnett has found success on both the singles and doubles side of the game.

Her most recent success came in April 2021 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, where alongside doubles partner Lina Glushko, the third seeds made it all the way to the final, coming through some tricky encounters, including a victory in the semifinal over top seeds Jodie Burrage and Sarah Beth Grey.[3]

In the final, the Brit and Israeli duo claimed the title by defeating opponents, Elena-Teodora Cadar and Olivia Gadecki, in a convincing straight sets victory (6–4, 6–2).[3]

Barnett works alongside Italian sports brand, Ellesse and American sports equipment manufacturer, Wilson.
