Priya Sood, aged 32 hails from a middle-class family, consisting of her mother Meera, three sisters Saranghi 'Sara', Maitri and Sandhya 'Sandy' and cousin Akshay, at Akshay's parents Dhiren and Sarika's home. Her father Mahendra abandoned them and now lives with his second wife Rakhi and their son Raj 'Bunty'. Although Priya dated Neeraj for four years, he left her to marry her sister Maitri. Thus, she believes there is no place for love in her life. Rich, established and well-known, Ram Kapoor, aged 38 was deserted six years ago by his girlfriend Vedika, who is now married to Shashi Babbar. Now, Ram entirely focuses on work and family. His family consists of his stepmother Nandini, half-siblings Shubham and Shivina, Nandini's brother Sanjeev and sister-in-law Mitali 'Meetu'.

Priya and Ram's lives take a turn when they discover that Shivina and Akshay are having an affair, despite Shivina being engaged to Shashi's younger brother Siddharth 'Sid'. Akshay refuses to marry before Priya marries, thus Ram decides to find a suitable alliance for her. However, Priya misunderstands his intentions, which leads to a huge fight between them. When Nandini realises that there is a possibility that Shivina's pregnant after the latter reveals she received a positive on a pregnancy test kit, she brings up Priya-Ram's marriage proposal to Meera. It is later revealed that Shivina is not pregnant, although Akshay still insists on marrying after Priya. Priya informs Ram that she cares about her brother's happiness and wishes to meet him. After meeting Ram, Priya eventually agrees to marry him.

However, as the families proceed with the marriages, the Kapoors learn of Priya's past affair with Neeraj, who reckoned earlier of Priya not moving on and overconfidently believes that she still loves him. This annoys Nandini, but Ram, Aditya, and Brinda come to Priya's rescue and taunt Neeraj indirectly. Finally, Priya-Ram and Shivina-Akshay get engaged.

But, on the other hand, Mahendra Sood, who has joined hands with Shashi attempts to sabotage the weddings with the help of Rakhi. The revelation of Mahendra's relations with the Soods shocks Nandini, who then misunderstands the Soods, and on Shubham's insistence gets a Prenuptial Agreement prepared for Priya and Ram, which forbids Priya from receiving any share or alimony if they decide to part ways in the near future. It is revealed, Shashi had suggest Shubham to get a prenup as the former did the same for his brother Sid and Shivina. The Prenup Agreement leaves Priya and Ram shocked. Ram initially hesitant, agrees to sign after finding out that the responsibility of the loan repayment of Priya's family bakery is handed over to him by Priya, but as it turns out, it was another attempt by Mahendra to sabotage the alliance with a plan of getting Priya married to someone else, solely to fulfill his responsibilities as a father, which annoys Rakhi. On the other hand, Priya's self-respect is hurt when Shubham and Sanjeev arrive at her home and ask her to sign the agreement and she firmly refuses to sign it. Soon, Meera and Priya find out Mahendra's intentions, and oust him.

Later, Priya signs the contract in front of Ram after being convinced by Meera, but later Ram gets to know, that it wasn't Priya who had plan to hand over the loan repayment to Ram, thus decides to help Priya, but the latter refuses. Ram leaves and nobody knows where he is. Nandini calls Shashi, who tells Nandini that Ram left for Delhi for a meeting. Nandini almost cancels the sangeet, but the family convinces her not to cancel it. On Shashi's orders, Vedika meets Priya and tells her that Ram is still in love with a woman from his past, when Priya tells Vedika that Ram told her this at their engagement. Ram later comes back from Delhi and everyone arrives at the sangeet, except Priya, which makes everyone suspicious. On the other hand, Priya gets the loan repayment formalities done and reaches the venue a little later.

At the sangeet, Neeraj once again tries to provoke Priya to confess her love for him, but to his dismay, Priya rebukes him. However, Meetu records the conversation incomplete, making it a half baked truth to show. On the other hand, the celebrations begin, Shubham surprises Shivina by inviting the winner and her favourite contestants, Pawandeep Rajan and first runner-up Arunita Kanjilal from Indian Idol 12. Meanwhile, Ram, on Shivina's insistence, impresses Priya by dancing with Meera, and inviting the school students from Saraswati Vidyalaya, an NGO Priya is associated with. Ram too helps Priya and Meera in convincing Nandini of having the community hall finalised as a wedding venue for Ram and Priya's wedding. However, this creates jealousy and annoyance in Nandini's mind.

In parallel, Sandhya and Maitri learn of Meetu's act and make her drunk completely, so they could delete the video successfully, and the do so, but to their oblivion, Meetu has sent it to Sanjeev, of which the latter too is unaware of. On the other hand, at Mahendra's house, Shashi on a phone call cuts off ties with Mahendra after the latter fails in their plans. Rakhi devises a sinister plan after finding Raj's friends at their home, especially Sid, and instigates him against Priya and Akshay. An infuriated and drunk Sid reaches the Venue, but Shubham saves the day by driving Sid off the venue. But in the process, unintentionally hurts Sandhya, who along with her family were on the way back home.

Ram and Priya's pre-wedding celebrations begin. The Kapoors and Soods face problems as they head to the venue. While Ram learns of his High Blood Pressure problem, on the other hand, Priya and the Soods reach to the venue early but are left distressed as the venue isn't vacated for their schedule. Ram helps Priya secretly by asking his family and friends to take another route so they could reach late. Ram before heading to the venue meets Mahendra and requests him to attend the wedding, after which, given the right directions by Priya, he reaches the venue, but Rakhi, who learns of Ram's allergy of consuming Prawns, plans to harm him by indirectly feeding him the same, and succeeds. On the other hand, Nandini is infuriated upon watching the video captured by Meetu and wows to bring down the Soods to shame, but fails to as the Venue's Air-Conditioning and LED TVs stop functioning owing to an overload. During the ceremony, Mahendra arrives and completes the rituals. But to his shock, he sees Amarnath's photograph and discovers Ram's relations with Amarnath. It is revealed that Amarnath died in an accident caused by Mahendra. However, it is Shashi who is the mastermind behind the same and thus has been feeding money to Mahendra all these years for successfully causing the accident. It is also revealed earlier, that Amarnath's Car Number Plate is in Priya's possession, and Priya is aware of how this incident has spoilt the relationship of Mahendra and Meera even more.

The families celebrate as Ram and Priya almost marry each other, but the police arrive at the venue and reveal to the Soods that Shubham was responsible for hurting Sandhya. This leads to a conflict between Priya and Ram. Ram leaves the venue halfway. Nandini uses this as an opportunity and manipulates Priya to break the marriage. On the other hand, oblivious to everyone, Ram suffers allergic reactions caused due to consuming Prawns and falls unconscious. The devotees who helped Priya reach her venue on time, reach to her help and rescue Ram. Ram reaches the venue and hides about his sickness to the family at the venue just before Priya almost calls off the wedding. During the rituals, Sandhya gets an opportunity to sabotage Nandini's plan by destroying the phone and succeeds. Finally, Ram and Priya get married much to Nandini's dismay. Priya apologizes to Shubham for the drama caused. Mahendra questions Shashi about the Accident, but the latter dodges it. Later, on returning home, Mahendra finds out Rakhi's sinister plan of spoiling the marriage and confronts her for the same, while the latter confronted Raj for the failure in their plan.

On the occasion of Vijaya Dashmi, Ram and Priya visit the Soods before Priya's grahapravesh at the Kapoor Mansion. Ram takes part in the grahapravesh at the Soods. On the other hand, Nandini and Mamaji again try to break the marriage.

Ram decides to stay at Priya's house for the night since his car isn't working. Though Ram, with Aditya's help fixes it, he still stays till morning. On the first night, Ram struggles to be comfortable in the house, Priya, who senses his uncomfort, helps him. The next morning, everyone is preparing for Akshay and Shivina's wedding. However, Sandy sees an email on Akshay's computer from a film producer saying to come for a 15-day shooting abroad, since he went for an audition earlier, and Sandy sees Akshay's response saying he will be there. Ram arrives and everyone tries to hide Akshay's disappearance from Ram.

At the film producer's office, Raj is hiding there, updating Shubham on everything that is happening, while it is revealed that Nandini, Mamaji, Neetu and Shubham are behind Akshay's disappearance. When Ram orders cupcakes from Priya's bakery, Adi sees Priya and Neeraj there. What Adi doesn't know is that Priya and Neeraj are looking for Akshay together. Meera and the family then go to Ram's house to tell them the truth about Akshay's whereabouts. Ram and Shivina worry even more until Priya arrives with Akshay. Akshay reveals how he didn't sign the contract as he didn't wanted to hamper his early wedding days with Shivina, while also promises to give the best life to Shivina. Priya reveals how she managed to save the day but misunderstands Mahendra's involvement in Akshay's disappearance. The preparations almost begin, when Shivina for good postpones the marriage, however the decision taken by her was under Nandini's influence so the latter could think of avoiding the marriage taking place and within the next 15 days break Priya and Ram's marriage too.

Finally, Priya's grahapravesh takes place. Priya gives Ram a gift as a sign of trust, which she values most in a relationship, in return, Ram says he trusts her and burns the prenup agreement papers. Meanwhile, Nandini is shocked on knowing Ram suffered allergic reactions on the wedding day, and enquires the same to Ram and Meera. Meera doubts Raj behind the same while Nandini accuses Vedika and Sid behind the mishap. However, Vedika promises to prove Sid's innocence and catch the real culprit. While Sid with Raj's help try to create a misunderstanding between Shivina and Akshay, by sending a picture of the two to Sarika. Infuriated, Sarika confronts Nandini. Meanwhile, Meera enquires the food stall vendor who indirectly fed Ram prawns and discovers Raj's hand behind the same. On the other hand, Nandini decides to use Neeraj to find out the truth behind Ram's allergy.

Ram and Priya go to Ram's house and convinces Sarika to calm down. They are then invited for dinner at Shashi and Vedika's house. While eating, Priya eats a paneer, which makes her have allergic reactions since she is allergic to paneer. Meanwhile, Neeraj gets CCTV footage from an ATM right beside the bank, where Neeraj works, from the day of the wedding to find out who gave Ram the prawns. Neeraj gives the footage to Nandini. When she recognizes Raj, she then thinks Neeraj will be helpful in the future.

Ram and Priya stay in a hotel in order for Priya to recover from her allergic reactions. The day after, Priya goes to Vedika to apologize but Vedika forgives her. Ram finds out and scolds Priya. Brinda decides to take Priya, Ram and Aditya to an old farmhouse of theirs. But Ram finds out from Akshay's film producer that Shubham told him to give Akshay the role. Angered, Ram goes to the house and hears Shubham saying to Nandini that Akshay and Shivina's wedding should break immediately. Ram becomes angry and almost slaps Shubham. Nandini brings Vedika to stop the fight and she shows footage of Raj giving the prawns to the shop owner and Nandini tries to manipulate Ram into thinking if Shivina will be happy with Akshay.

Meanwhile, Akshay decides to come back home for a while to meet Shivina for his birthday and Shivina, not knowing this news, shows Ram her decorated room for Akshay's birthday. Ram gets emotional seeing Shivina so happy and doesn't call off the wedding. Nandini manipulates Ram even more and Ram is convinced to break the wedding since he does everything for his family. At the farmhouse, Priya is cooking some food for Ram and looks at old photos with Ram and his friends.

Ram tries to figure out the perfect way to tell Priya that he is calling off the wedding. Nandini orders some cupcakes from Priya's bakery but when Sarika brags about Akshay not being here, Nandini spills the truth on Ram breaking Akshay and Shivina's wedding since Ram told her not to tell Priya's family until after a while but Nandini says that Sarika forced her to say this and she takes the cupcakes as she leaves the bakery. 

Nandini tells Vedika to give Ram annulment papers to finish his wedding with Priya but he doesn't sign it. Priya purposely eats paneer for Akshay and Shivina's eloped wedding. After she recovers, both the Kapoor and Sood families find out and Ram gets angry and yells at Priya for breaking his trust. Ram also reveals the video of Raj with the prawns and making Ram almost die. Priya is shocked but then Ram leaves with Shivina. After that, Shivina taunts Ram, causing Nandini to slap her. Ram ultimately lets Shivina live with Akshay, with everyone agreeing. Priya goes to Mahendra Sood's house and almost arrests Raj.

However, Mahendra arrives and tells the police to arrest him instead of Raj. After Priya leaves, a lady offers her food and bangles for Karva Chauth but she declines it. Ram sees her and gives a taxi driver money to take Priya somewhere other than home. The same lady offers Ram the gifts, when Ram takes them. Ram is about to go to Mahendra's house when Adi tells him of Mahendra's arrest and Nandini convinces Ram to sign the annulment papers that Vedika gave him.

After Shivina comes to the Sood household, Rakhi arrives and blames everyone for Mahendra's arrest but Meera backs her off. After finding out that Neeraj leaked the video of Raj with the prawns, Sara and Brinda try to make a plan to use Neeraj to get Ram less involved with his family and more involved with Priya to save their wedding. Ram starts to ignore Priya, but she declares that after Karva Chauth is finished, she will sign the annulment papers then she will leave the house. Brinda discovers the bangles but Ram makes an excuse saying the bangles are for her instead of Priya. Brinda thinks that Ram is secretly fasting for Karva Chauth because before Ram got married, he said he will always fast for his wife for Karva Chauth.

At the bakery, Maitri reveals to Sara that Neeraj is mad at her and he is ready to divorce her. She also reveals that Neeraj was the one who leaked the footage of Raj with the prawns. They tell Priya this and she arrives at the bakery. Sara offers Priya cupcakes, but Priya denies them saying she doesn't want to eat in front of Sara and Maitri. Brinda messages Sara saying that Ram has made an excuse for some bangles, while Sara messages back saying that Priya has also made an excuse. Brinda and Sara come to a conclusion that both Ram and Priya are fasting for Karva Chauth. At the Kapoor household, the Sood family visit, including Shivina. Brinda, still thinking that Ram is fasting, calls for Ram's pills for him to eat to confirm her suspicions.

Ram doesn't eat the pills. Neeraj meets Vedika saying he could get fired from his job for "illegally" leaking the Raj video. Nandini arrives and tries to save him. At the Karva Chauth party at the Kapoor house, Neeraj meets Priya and begs her to save him when Priya leaves, but is overheard by Ram and Vedika. Shashi arrives and haves a drink with Ram but Ram leaves without drinking. Afterwards, Ram goes on stage and gives a speech to Shivina and Akshay saying that if there is no trust in a relationship, then there is nothing in the relationship, which Priya thinks Ram is secretly taunting her.

Ram dumps his drink in some flowers, which is noticed by Brinda and Sara, who now think that Ram and Priya are both fasting. When Brinda and Sara confront Ram about it, Vedika is about to talk to him about the papers but Meera arrives to tell Ram something. Nandini finds Priya and asks her to end the wedding. Priya asks for the papers. Nandini gives Priya the papers, when she starts to remember all of her memories with Ram, but she signs the annulment papers nonetheless, which pleases Nandini. Later, Ram leaves before finishing the Karva Chauth tradition, to Nandini's happiness and Meera's dismay. Nandini thinks she was successful at separating Ram and Priya but Meera still has hope. Ram comes back with Mahendra, which upsets Nandini.

Certain events transpire and the annulment papers get leaked to the media by Ram's friends after Brinda "accidentally" drops her drink on the papers, erasing Priya's signature, which means Ram and Priya are still married. After a while, Ram decides to call an interview with him and Priya to clear the matter. Priya reluctantly agrees, but Meetu calls Shivina to cook at the Sood house to impress the family after planning with Nandini and Shubham. But, Priya sees a mess while Shivina is cooking so Priya cooks herself, delaying her interview with Ram. After Ram practices the interview with Brinda about what she likes, he loses hope that Priya will come and goes to do the interview himself. As Ram goes to the interview, Priya arrives late but she arrives, to Brinda's happiness and Nandini's shock.

During the interview, Ram and Priya come up with weird responses to questions, dodging the uncomfortable questions. Nandini calls Shubham and tells him to leak Ram's first love to the media. When the interviewer asks Priya about Ram's first love, she dodges the question, saying that his first love is his medicines. Nandini then tells Shubham to leak the fact that Ram and Priya's wedding was only a deal for their siblings to marry. Priya saves the day again by showing examples about how every relationship is a deal.

Meanwhile, Sara tells Meera that Ram cares about Priya and he loses it when he hears Neeraj's name. However, Neeraj overhears this and tries to prove that Ram and Priya don't care for each other. Nandini asks Adi for who leaked the papers since he was the last one with the papers before going to the media. Adi confesses to leaking the papers, which is overheard by Ram and Priya when they come home. Priya lies saying that she leaked the papers to a lawyer, but Neeraj arrives to ask Priya to help him get a new job. Ram soon hires Neeraj as his new accountant, regaining trust in Priya and vice versa. Ram and Priya are both sent a montage video of their wedding from Sandy to help get more love from the public for their relationship.

Meera makes Priya promise to say yes to everything Ram says for the day, which leads Priya to go with Ram for Diwali shopping. Ram finds a suit but breaks a button when Priya comes too close to him to fix the button. Ram recommends a saree for Priya but Shashi and Vedika get it after he apologizes to her when Vedika learns that Shashi made a big loan at Neeraj's bank and Shashi yelled at Vedika, so she asks Neeraj to find out about the loan, in exchange to break Ram and Priya's wedding. Neeraj asks for time to think about it. When Vedika is wearing the saree in front of the mirror, Ram, thinking it is Priya in the saree, tells her she is looking beautiful, but Vedika turns around and Ram becomes surprised.

Eventually, Ram and Vedika talk it out and until Shashi arrives and he and Vedika leave. Some workers at the shop get suspicious of Priya of stealing for no fancy clothing, but when a worker aggressively grabs her bag, Ram arrives, and angrily yells at the worker and orders the worker to check Ram as well but the worker apologizes, and Ram angrily leaves with Priya. They both find a dance event in their name, so they dance together but it was just for a woman named Supriya instead. At the Soods, Shivina, Sara, Sandy, and Meera are making Diwali decorations when Nandini and Shubham arrive with more gifts, which makes Sarika jealous. But Akshay comes back with more gifts and Sarika angrily asks for a contract that Shivina will sign like Priya did in her contract with Ram.

When Ram and Priya come to the Sood household, Sarika heats up the argument, when Priya blurts out that Ram burnt the papers, shocking Nandini and Shubham. Adi is about to tell Ram that Shashi is about to go bankrupt, but Ram doesn't listen due to his and Brinda's conversation if Priya actually likes Ram. Shashi gets mad at Vedika for spying on him. Shubham and Nandini are talking about ruining Akshay's career, when Priya enters the room with a serious face, but to Nandini and Shubham's relief, Priya did not hear anything and she apologizes for Sarika's harsh behavior. Shubham calls Sid and tells him to convince Anjali, Akshay's co-actor, to mess with Akshay's reputation by recording a video of her and Akshay together. Anjali lies to Akshay says her boyfriend has a video of her and if she doesn't pay him 10 lakh he will upload the video to the Internet. After Akshay leaves, she texts a private contact. Sid sends the video to Shubham.

Ram starts eating at 2 am and Priya comes to clean up the food but when Ram goes to eat his medicines, his nose starts bleeding and collapses to the floor and falls in Priya's arms. Nandini, Shubham and Meetu see this and Shubham calls the doctor and the doctor takes Ram to his room. Meetu starts blaming Priya for this but Nandini asks her to stop. Akshay comes back home when Meetu keeps calling Shivina but she doesn't answer because it is late. Akshay answers the phone and Meetu tells him what happened. When Akshay asks Shivina to go to the Kapoor house, Shivina refuses saying Ram can figure it out himself and goes back to sleep. Akshay starts wondering why Shivina is so careless of her brother and he goes by himself.

Akshay, Vedika, and Shashi arrive. Vedika is thinking Priya's family did something wrong to Ram but Priya tells everyone, including Vedika, to go since they might not be helpful for Ram. Ram soon recovers and he sees Priya filling the house with rangoli. He goes back to the room and Priya serves Ram breakfast. Sid and Sandy meet at the bakery while Shubham gets worried and decides to go to the bakery to help Sid but Ram sees Shubham walking through the rangoli and he gets mad. But Shubham lies saying that he is getting medicines for Ram and he hasn't been able to sleep after Ram fainted. So Ram feels bad and lets Shubham go and Ram decides to fix the rangoli, with the help of Brinda via video call. Priya starts searching for Ram after seeing that he is gone from the bedroom.

After she finds him, Priya takes the Kapoor files for Shubham's new company and takes them to the temple like Ram's father Amarnath did every Diwali. Meanwhile, Shivina decides not to go to the Kapoor house for Diwali after her argument with Sandy. After waking up, Ram and Adi go to the temple, where Ram sees a man stealing Priya's purse with the Kapoor files. Priya scolds the thief and he runs away. Ram is amazed about how Priya walked all the way to the temple so they drink some chai and leave.

Shivina calls Priya and Priya says she will talk to Shivina at the Kapoor house. Priya tells Ram he should give his friends some kind of a reward or promotion for taking care of Ram for all these years. So he promotes Adi but Nandini and Shubham get worried about where Ram is so she and Vedika go to Ram's office and Ram convinces Nandini that nothing is wrong. Shivina is ready to go to the Kapoor house after talking with Priya. At the Kapoor house for Diwali, Ram gives a speech to his family and says that Priya will get 5% part in Shubham and Sid's new business company, which shocks everyone.
