Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin

Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin (transl. Lost in someone's love) is an Indian television drama series which premiered on 5 October 2020 on Star Plus. It is a remake of Star Jalsha's Bengali series Kusum Dola.[2] It stars Ayesha Singh and Neil Bhatt.

Plot

Sai Joshi, an outspoken girl from Gadchiroli aspires to become a doctor and dreams to study MBBS at the Nagpur Medical College. In Nagpur, Virat Chavan becomes an IPS officer and is posted to Gadchiroli. On a trip to Nashik, Virat meets Patralekha "Pakhi" Mohitepatil. The two fall for each other but do not confess their feelings. Chavans search for a suitable bride for Virat's cousin Samrat Salunkhe. They like Patralekha and contact her parents.

Virat gets a call to join his duty and so he asks Pakhi to write her phone number on his palm but on the way, it smudges. Unaware of this, Pakhi waits for his call. Virat joins his posting in Gadchiroli but Sai dislikes him. Pakhi finds Virat's number and calls him but he fails to recognise her. Pakhi is heartbroken and agrees to the alliance with Samrat. Pakhi and Samrat get engaged. Virat returns to Nagpur to attend Samrat's wedding, unaware the bride is Pakhi. Virat and Pakhi are shocked to see each other. They manage to clear their misunderstandings but Virat refuses to break her alliance with Samrat because he loves his brother. Virat promises Pakhi that he will never give any girl place in his life and heart. Samrat and Pakhi get married. She calls Virat and tells him that she loves him. Samrat overhears this and leaves for his duty, heartbroken.

Sai's obsessive stalker Jagtap tries to shoot Virat but Kamal takes the bullet instead and is taken to the hospital. On his deathbed, Kamal asks Virat to take responsibility for Sai after he dies. Sai is devastated after her father's death and blames Virat for it.

After Kamal's funeral, everyone pressurises Virat and Sai to marry. Unwillingly, they agree but make this clear that their marriage will only be a temporary deal until Sai finishes her MBBS and becomes independent. Sai and Virat get married. Pakhi is shattered on seeing this. Virat tries to make her understand but she refuses. Chavan family is shocked to know about Virat and Sai's marriage and refuse to accept it.

Sai tries to expose the Chavans who have kept Devyani and Pulkit separated. Virat refuses to believe Sai and expels her from the house. She goes back to Gadchiroli. When Virat finds out the truth, he reveals the truth and apologies to Sai, asking her to return but she refuses. Virat is goes on a risky mission and gets shot. Sai rushes to the hospital to see Virat and they reconcile and return home.

Sai overhears Virat and Pakhi's conversation and misunderstands that they love each other. Virat starts falling for Sai and tries to confess his feelings but fails. Virat gets jealous of Sai's male friends and yells at her. Agitated by his behaviour, Sai rebukes Virat and leaves the house where a car hits her. Virat takes her to the hospital. Sai regains consciousness but refuses to see Virat. Later, she forgives him.

In order to reveal his love, Virat plans a trip on their first wedding anniversary to Mahabaleshwar. Although he lies about this to Sai and the rest of the family. Virat and Sai spend romantic moments before the real surprise is revealed by Virat. Sai gets agitated as she thinks that Virat still loves Pakhi. They have a big argument and eventually Sai leaves without letting anyone know. Sai and Virat meet Samrat who works in an orphanage. Sai and Virat convince Samrat to return home and he agrees but only to divorce Pakhi. He reveals that Pakhi never wanted to marry him and loves Virat. The family tries to convince Pakhi and Samrat to give their relationship a second chance. due Sai's rude behaviour on the trip Virat cuts off all ties with her. Pakhi plans a Puja at home to make Virat jealous. Sai denies to become part of her drama so Virat locks Sai in her room. Sai now thinks that Virat is getting jealous because he cannot see Pakhi with Samrat so she decides to leave Chavan house. She leaves the house but gets into an accident and is taken to the hospital. Virat cries and prays for her. Sai recovers and is brought back home.

Ashwini separates Sai and Virat's room to give them some space. Sai and Virat give their relationship a fresh start, this time as friends. They nick name each other as Modak and Mirchi. They celebrate Ninad and Ashwini's anniversary mending their long broken relationship. Bhavani begins to feel that her position in the house is challenged by Sai. She orders her to shift back to Virat's room and provide her with an heir by the end of next year. Sai cries but is consoled by Virat who supports her. Virat's old friend Sada (now a terrorist) shows up in his life. Eventually Sai understands Virat's feelings for her and wants to ask him but before that happens, Virat leaves for a mission. On the mission Virat shoots Sada but promises him to take care of his wife and unborn child. He brings Shruti (Sada's wife) to Nagpur and hides her in a hotel.

Production

Development

The filming of the series began in September 2020.[3] Mainly filmed in Mumbai, some initial sequences of the series were shot at Nashik.[4]

In March 2021, the filming was halted for a few days when Neil Bhatt, Aishwarya Sharma Bhatt and a crew member tested positive for COVID-19 virus, leading to a change in the track.[5]

On 13 April 2021, Chief Minister of Maharashtra announced a curfew from 15 April. On 16 and 17 April, the team shifted filming to Goa for a few weeks until the government issued a confirmation to resume shooting in Mumbai.[6]

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Uddhav Thackeray announced that shooting of all shows must halt within all parts of urban and rural Maharashtra. Hence, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin producers moved to Goa and were permitted by the government to only shoot indoors, inside their bio-bubble.[7] Everything proceeded as planned, but in May 2021 the producers shot a scene at Goa Fort, violating the regulations.[8] Maharashtra Government allowed shooting to resume later, so the cast and crew returned to Film City.

Release

The first promo of the series was released on 12 September 2020 featuring the leads Ayesha Singh, Neil Bhatt and Aishwarya Sharma.[9] The promo released on 1 October 2020 featured veteran actress Rekha promoting the series.[10] The following promo released before premiere featured Deepika Singh in her character Sandhya Rathi from Diya Aur Baati Hum to promote the series.[11]

The show topped the TRP chart and attained the first position by beating Anupamaa in Week 18 of 2021 with 3.5 TRP.[12] It maintained this in week 19 and 20 of 2021. But then Anupamaa returned to the first position, bringing Ghum back to the second position.

On 4 August 2021, Rekha again made an appearance in a teaser to promote the track of Sai and Virat's outdoor trip as well as Samrat's return in the series.[13][14]

The title song "Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin" is a remake of the song "Ghum Hai Kisi ke Pyar Mein" from the 1972 film Raampur Ka Lakshman, originally composed by R.D. Burman, written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar. The song was recreated for the series, with the music composed by Dhruv Dhalla.[69]
