Plot

Upon hearing the news that her mother has died, Yoo-mi is left alone to take care of her half-sister Yoon Ji-yoo, of which she is not thrilled about. She never met Yoon Ji-yoo in person and is shy to meet her. Therefore, in order to get herself familiar with the situation she visits her mother's friend - a hotel owner Gyeong-seon. Gyeong-seon wants to help Yoo-mi, but it soon reveals that not everything as it seems at the house her mother lived in. The hotel is haunted by deadly secrets and guests that never checked out. Will Yoo-mi survive the horrifying night at the hotel and will she be able to solve the death of her mother?

Reception

On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 67% based on nine critics, with an average rating of 6/10.[1]

Jon Mendelsohn of Comic Book Resources wrote: "Lingering ends up falling flat when trying to blend tones and genres, yet still manages to deliver knock-out performances and set design".[2]

According to Lindsay Traves of CG Magazine, "Writer and director Yoon Een-Kyoung has a stellar visual style".[3]

Kat Hughes of The Hollywood News said "Peppered with good intent and some strong, though not fully formed, concepts, Lingering bites off much more than it can chew - the result - a stylish, but slightly limp film".[4]
