Next Milwaukee mayoral election

The next Milwaukee mayoral election will take place to elect the mayor for Milwaukee. It will be held in either 2024 or earlier. While the next regularly-scheduled date for a Milwaukee mayoral election is in 2024, incumbent mayor Tom Barrett has been nominated to serve as United States ambassador to Luxembourg. If Barrett is confirmed to this role, he is expected to vacate his mayoralty, which (depending how early he vacates) could trigger a special election.[1][2] Such a special election would be the first open race for mayor of the city since 2004.
