Saktiandi Supaat

Saktiandi bin Supaat (Jawi: سقتيند سوڤات; born 1973)[1] is a Singaporean politician and economist. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he is a Member of the 14th Parliament and has been representing the Toa Payoh East ward of Bishan-Toa Payoh Group Representation Constituency (GRC) since 2015.[2]

Education

Saktiandi was educated at Henry Park Primary School, Raffles Institution and Catholic Junior College[3] before he went on to complete a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Commerce (honours) at Murdoch University and University of Melbourne respectively. Later, he also completed a Master of Social Science in applied economics at the National University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration at the University of Cambridge.

Career

An economist by profession, Saktiandi is currently the Executive Vice President and Head of FX Research team in Global Markets, Global Banking at Maybank.[4] Prior to joining the private sector in 2010, Saktiandi was a lead economist in the Economic Policy Department of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.[3]

Political career

On 12 August 2015, the People's Action Party (PAP) announced Saktiandi as part of a five-member PAP team contesting in Bishan–Toa Payoh GRC in the 2015 general election.[4][5] Saktiandi was elected into Parliament[6] when the PAP team won with 73.59% of the valid votes.[7] Saktiandi and the PAP team were elected as Members of Parliament for Bishan–Toa Payoh GRC for a second term after the 2020 general election, garnering 67.26% of the valid votes.[8] Saktiandi was then appointed the chairman of the Transport Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) in the 14th Parliament.
