Marymount Single Member Constituency

The Marymount Single Member Constituency is a Single Member Constituency located in the central area of Singapore formed in 2020. The current MP is Gan Siow Huang.[1]

History

Marymount is a new SMC carved out as a new electoral boundary and used to be part of the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. Bishan North, Sin Ming and Shunfu estate from Bishan East-Thomson division were also carved into the new constituency which will reduce the size of the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC from five to four seats. It was formerly run by Josephine Teo.

Josephine Teo declined that she will contest the SMC in the 2020 Singapore general election. People's Action Party (PAP) new candidate Gan Siow Huang defeated Progress Singapore Party (PSP) candidate Ang Yong Guan with a vote count of 55.04% vs 44.96% in the 2020 Singapore general election which made her the incumbent MP of the new constituency.

Town council

The Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council is operating under both the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC and the Marymount SMC.
