Shivangi Joshi

Shivangi Joshi (born 18 May 1995)[1] is an Indian television actress known for portraying dual roles, Naira Singhania Goenka and Sirat Shekhawat Goenka,[2] in Star Plus's longest running television soap opera Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai from 2016 to 2021, as Poonam in Begusarai and as Anandi in Balika Vadhu 2.[3][4][5]

Early life

Joshi was born in Pune, Maharashtra.[6] She did her schooling in her hometown, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.[7][8]

Career

Joshi made her television debut in 2013 with Zee TV's Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi. Subsequently, she went on to play Aayat Haider in Beintehaa and Poonam Thakur in Begusarai, opposite Vishal Aditya Singh.

In 2016, Joshi began portraying Naira Singhania Goenka in Star Plus's Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai which gave her immense popularity. In January 2021, her character Naira was killed following with the re-entry of Joshi as Sirat Shekhawat Goenka, Naira's look-alike in the show. As Joshi decided to quit the show in October 2021 due to some personal reasons, her second character in the show (Sirat Shekhawat Goenka) which was also highly appreciated and loved was killed paving way to a generation leap to the show.

In 2020, she was about to make her debut at the Cannes Film Festival with the film Our Own Sky,[9] but due to the coronavirus, the film was later released in the OTT platform.[10] In November 2021, she was finalized to play grown up Anandi in Colors TV's Balika Vadhu 2.[11]
