Stad i ljus

"Stad i ljus" (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈstɑːd iː ˈjʉːs]; "City of Light") is a ballad which was the winning song of Melodifestivalen 1988 and subsequently Sweden's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 1988, where it finished twelfth. The song was written by Py Bäckman and performed by Tommy Körberg. At first, it was thought that Jan Malmsjö would sing it.

The song entered at number one on the Swedish hitlist Svensktoppen on 17 April 1988. "Stad i ljus" was also released as a single in 1988. It peaked at number eight on the Swedish singles chart.

Timo Räisänen performed the song at Melodifestivalen 2010.[1] Singer Oscar Zia and rapper Anis Don Demina opened the second semifinal of Melodifestivalen 2021 by performing the song.[2]
