The Silent Sea (TV series)
The Silent Sea (Korean: 고요의 바다; RR: Goyo-eui bada) is an upcoming South Korean sci-fi mystery thriller streaming television series starring Gong Yoo, Bae Doona and Lee Joon.[1] The series is an adaptation from the 2014 short film The Sea of Tranquility written and directed by Choi Hang-yong who will also direct the series.[2] It is scheduled to be released on Netflix on December 24, 2021 coinciding with Christmas Eve.[3][4][5]

Synopsis
During a perilous 24-hour mission on the moon, space explorers try to retrieve samples from an abandoned research facility steeped in classified secrets.

- The exploration team leader who must carry out a crucial mission with limited information. He puts the safety of his team members above all else and does not refrain from putting himself in jeopardy to do so.
- Bae Doona as Doctor Song Ji-an.
- The astrobiologist, who joins the team, determined to uncover the truth behind an accident at the now-abandoned Balhae Base research station on the moon.
- Lee Joon as Captain Ryoo Tae-seok.
- Head engineer, who was an elite member of the Ministry of National Defense, but volunteered for this dangerous mission in an attempt to escape the stifling environment at the Ministry.

Production
Development
In December 2019, Netflix announced that it would produce the television series The Silent Sea, adapted from the 2014 eponymous short film directed by Choi Hang-yong. He will also be directing the series, with Jung Woo-sung standing in as the executive producer.[9]
