Mehmana

Mehmana (Armenian: Մեհմանա, Greek: Μεχμανά) is a village de facto in the Martakert Province of the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh, de jure in the Kalbajar District of Azerbaijan. Mehmana is populated by Pontic Greeks since the 19th century, but the village was inhabited long before that. Historically, metallic ore was mined near the village, on the slops of Mrav (Murov) mountain range.[2][3]

Not to be confused with the city in Afghanistan Maymana.

History

During the Soviet period, the village was a part of the Mardakert District of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast.

Demographics

The village had 27 inhabitants in 2005,[4] and 26 inhabitants in 2015.[1]
