Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 1956

Belgium was one of seven countries to enter the Eurovision Song Contest 1956, inaugural Eurovision Song Contest, in Lugano, Switzerland. RTBF, the Belgian broadcaster, internally selected the two entrants that would send to the contest.

Before Eurovision

Internal selection

The Belgian broadcaster RTBF decided to internally select entrants who will represent Belgium at the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest 1956 in Lugano, Switzerland. Fud Leclerc with the song "Messieurs les noyés de la Seine" and Mony Marc with the song "Le plus beau jour de ma vie" were selected by the broadcaster to participate in the contest.[1][2]

At Eurovision

Both of the Belgian entries were conducted at the contest by the composer Léo Souris.[3][4] The final votes of the first contest were never announced, so it is not known what place the songs finished at the actual Eurovision Song Contest.[5]
