I Can See Your Voice (Philippine game show)

I Can See Your Voice is a Philippine television mystery music game show series produced and distributed locally by ABS-CBN Entertainment available on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z. It is an adaptation of the South Korean program of the same name.

Gameplay

Format

A guest artist is presented with a group of six "mystery singers" (as SEE-cret songers) — some of them are good singers, and some are bad. The artist must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group by guessing who they are without hearing them sing. They get assistance from clues by "celebrity panelists" (dubbed the SING-vestigators) over the course of three rounds. The artist will eliminate one to two singers at the end of each round and then proceed to perform on the "stage of truth". At the end, the winning mystery singer is revealed as good (SEE-nger) or bad (SEE-ntunado) by means of a duet with one of the guest artists.[1][2]

Rewards

At the end of every round, the eliminated mystery singer gets a consolation prize starting with ₱5,000 for the first round, ₱10,000 for the second round, and ₱15,000 for the third round. If the last mystery singer is a good singer, the guest artist gets an award (as Eyeward) and he/she will compete at Tawag ng Tanghalan. The winning singer, regardless of being good or bad, receives a cash prize of ₱25,000.

Rounds

There are six individuals or groups of mystery singers standing on a platform to keep identities concealed until the "stage of truth" performance.

  • Visual round
  • Stop, Looks, and Listen

The guest artist is given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on their appearance. Afterward, a muted video of each mystery singer reveals only 0.3 seconds of their singing voice as an additional hint.[lower-alpha 1][lower-alpha 2]

  • Two or False

Each mystery singer is given two different identities — as a good singer and as a bad singer. Only one of them is their real identity.[lower-alpha 2][lower-alpha 3]

  • Lip sync round
  • The Voice is Syncing

Each mystery singer performs a lip sync to a song. Good singers mime to their own voices while bad singers mime to the voices of others.[lower-alpha 1][lower-alpha 2]

  • Sync Zoned

Each mystery singer performs a lip sync from a non-lyrical part of a song (i.e. screams, whistles, interjections, etc.).[lower-alpha 1]

  • Everybody Sync

Separated into two groups, each group of mystery singers participate in a short lip sync performance for one song each.[lower-alpha 3]

  • Evidence round
  • I Like to Prove It! Prove It!

A proof of each mystery singer's singing ability (i.e. photo, video, certificates, etc.) is shown on the screen.[lower-alpha 1]

Three random panelists must wear headphones to listen to the mystery singer's real voice for 15 seconds. Afterward, the panelist must defend the mystery singer and convince the guest artist to choose him/her as the final mystery singer.[lower-alpha 1][lower-alpha 2][lower-alpha 3]

Production

Background and development

ABS-CBN first announced the development of the series in a collaboration with Endemol Shine Group in August 2017.[3][4] Produced by ABS-CBN Entertainment, the staff team is managed by executive producer Rose Casala, director Jon Raymond Moll, and creative director Stiffany Adanza.

Filming

Episode tapings took place at the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center, Brgy. South Triangle, Diliman, Quezon City. Production was halted during the second season from March to October 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[5][6] Later, the second indefinite network shutdown and franchise denial took place.[7][8] Since the third season, it was taped with enhanced health and safety protocols being implemented.

Broadcast

History

ICSYVPH debuted on September 16, 2017, replacing Lethal Weapon.[9] The second season started airing on August 10, 2019[10] but it was prematurely ended on March 14, 2020 because of halting productions.[5][6] The third season premiered on October 24, 2020,[11][12] coinciding with the inaugural broadcast of TV5's rival show Masked Singer Pilipinas, another Philippine adaptation of the South Korean reality competition series.[13][14] The series has been renewed for the fourth season premiering on 2022.[15]

This program was originally aired on ABS-CBN for two seasons, and then switched to A2Z and Kapamilya Channel since the third season. It also simulcasts on Facebook Live and YouTube through Kapamilya Online Live streaming. Outside of the Philippines, it is aired on The Filipino Channel through international transmissions. They are available for streaming on iWantTFC through video on demand.

Special episodes

In the first season, ICSYVPH celebrated its first anniversary starting with a highlight episode (dubbed as Best Mode) on September 9, 2018.[16] Then, two special episodes was aired on September 15 and 16, 2018 — the first mystery singer batch are Kalokalike contestants[17][18] and second are celebrities.[19][20] Other mystery singer batches also include duos,[21][22] groups[23] (from first season); senior citizens,[24][25] and foreigners[26] (from second season).

Cast

The series employs a team of "celebrity panelists" who decipher mystery singers' evidences throughout the game. Guest panelists also appear since the first season. Throughout its broadcast, the program has assigned 11 different panelists. The original members consist of Wacky Kiray, Kean Cipriano, Alex Gonzaga, Andrew E., and Angeline Quinto.[1] Besides with original lineup, newcomers also include Bayani Agbayani (from first season); Kaladkaren (from second season);[27] and Long Mejia, Negi, Nikko Natividad, and Jona Viray (from third season).[28]
