2022 Northern Mariana Islands gubernatorial election

The 2022 Northern Mariana gubernatorial election will take place in 2022 to elect the Governor of the Northern Mariana Islands and the Lieutenant Governor of the Northern Mariana Islands to a four-year term in office. In the Northern Mariana Islands, if no candidate receives 50% of the vote in the general election for a statewide office, the two highest-placing candidates will advance to a runoff election.[1]

Incumbent Republican governor Ralph Torres is running for re-election to a second full term in office.[2] Lieutenant Governor Arnold Palacios, a career Republican, has announced he will run against Torres as an independent with Saipan mayor David M. Apatang as his running mate.[3] Democratic nominee Tina Sablan, a member of the territorial House of Representatives, is the first woman to be nominated for Governor of the Northern Mariana Islands.[4]
