2022 San Francisco District Attorney recall election
The 2022 San Francisco District Attorney recall election is a special recall election due to be held June 7, 2022.[1][2] The recall, if successful, would remove incumbent District Attorney Chesa Boudin, who was narrowly elected in 2019. If this were to happen, Boudin would be replaced by an interim District Attorney appointed by Mayor London Breed.[3]

The election was made official on November 9, 2021 when the San Francisco Department of Elections announced it had received 83,484 valid signatures, 32,159 more than required by law.[1]
Background
In the summer of 2021 there were two separate campaigns that sought to gather the necessary signatures. The first was spearheaded by former mayoral candidate Richie Greenberg, a member of the Republican Party, but narrowly fell short of the 51,325 signatures needed.[4] The second and ultimately successful campaign was led by Mary Jung and Andrea Shorter, both lifelong Democrats, Jung being the former Chairwoman of the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee.[5][6]
Boudin has repeatedly denounced the recall attempt as a Republican-led effort.[7][8][9]
